Irondale council approves consent agenda including park renamings, contracts and employee awards

Among the items the council approved: dedicating multiple fields at Ruffner Park Sports Complex in honor of local contributors (Chandler Field, Boone Field, McDan Field, Evans Field and Hollingsworth Field); authorizing a library lawn-maintenance agreement with LMLS Landscape Services Inc. not to exceed $3,500 per month; renewing landfill disposal service with Star Ridge Landfill at a rate described in the record as $405 per ton plus a $1 per ton ADM fee; awarding $1,000 cash recognitions to a list of city employees for exemplary service; authorizing security cameras and door access control at Fire Station No. 3; approving an alcohol license transfer for Hilltop Liquor; and adopting the Division G multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan to satisfy FEMA (44 CFR §201.6) requirements.
Mayor Stewart read the list and explained some items, including the library landscape’s specialized planting needs and that water-department staff completed work on the civic center project that saved the city money. Contractors and department heads were present for brief comments on scope and schedule for maintenance and equipment items.
