Council approves temporary VFW lease for senior-center relocation; city to pay $6,800

Uniontown City Council on May 11 approved Resolution 18-78, a lease amendment authorizing temporary exclusive weekday occupancy of the VFW Post 1949 facility to accommodate senior-center programming during renovations.
Parks Director Alina Hibbs told council the amendment provides the city exclusive weekday occupancy June 1 through Sept. 30, 2026, excluding two previously scheduled rentals. Hibbs said the city will compensate the VFW a total of $6,800 and that the amount will be absorbed into the senior-center renovation project budget so "no additional funds are required." She also said the city will make small accessibility improvements to the VFW Hall, funded from the project budget, to match ADA accessibility needs.
Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote.
What happens next: Parks staff will finalize lease terms, schedule the temporary relocation, and implement ADA improvements so senior-center services can continue uninterrupted during renovation.
