Board accepts several resignations, ratifies contracts and approves purchases including tractor and sports medicine agreement

At its regular meeting the Fairfield Union Local Board of Education approved a series of personnel and operational items, including resignations, new hires, administrative contracts, service agreements and capital purchases.
The board accepted the resignation of Courtney Roberts as treasurer, effective July 31, 2026, and approved a number of staff resignations effective at the end of the 2025—2026 school year (including Lydia Tokar, Jessica Graham, Britney Buicki and Tyler Clayborn). Trustees thanked departing staff for their service when the motions were presented and approved by roll call.
On hires and contracts, the board approved one-year teacher contracts for Tabitha Bailey (middle-school intervention specialist) and Heather Horsley (elementary intervention specialist) pending verification of application materials. The board also ratified a three-year administrative contract for John Turnbull as special education coordinator retroactive to Aug. 1, 2025 through July 31, 2028; administrators said the contract had been missed in an internal list and that additional eFinance checks will be added to prevent recurrence.
The board approved service and purchase agreements across several agenda items: a one-year special-education services agreement with Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center for the 2627 school year; a sports medicine service agreement in which Ohio State will hire and place the district's athletic trainer (the district will pay salary while Ohio State provides benefits and some event medical support); and capital purchases including a 72-inch zero-turn mower and a tractor with finish mower (replacement equipment included on the district's capital improvement plan). Trustees discussed trade-in value and planned uses for grounds and deliveries when approving the equipment purchases.
The board also approved a three-year renewal with Coke for FY27—29 and discussed operational problems after Coke outsourced some vending services to a third party; administrators said the QR-code refund approach can be impractical in a school setting because students cannot use phones during the day, and staff are working on operational fixes.
All motions described above were moved, seconded and approved by roll call during the meeting. The board concluded business and voted to enter executive session for the next agenda item.
