BPW approves updated water and electric fee schedules; effective date July 1, 2026 recommended to City Council

The Zeeland Board of Public Works on April 14 approved updates to both the Water and Electric Utility Fee Schedules and recommended that City Council adopt the revisions effective July 1, 2026.
Staff said the fee changes were intended to align charges with the actual cost of providing service, to recover infrastructure and operating costs equitably among users, and to improve long-term financial stability. Going forward, staff intend to incorporate an annual review of utility fees into the fiscal-year budget process.
The Board voted to approve both resolutions by voice vote; motions carried unanimously. The Board’s approval formally recommends City Council adopt the schedules; City Council action will be required to make the fee changes effective.
