Malden BPW reviews amended 2024/25 budget, defers water/wastewater wage adjustments

At the May 27 meeting the Malden Board of Public Works reviewed proposed changes to the 2024/25 amended budget and the 2025/26 proposed budget.
Utility Director Ivone Smith went line-by-line through budget items and told the board that adjustments will be made to account for lift-station repairs that have already been paid. She said the proposed 2025/26 budget does not include water/wastewater union wage adjustments because the matter requires a further meeting and discussion; salary adjustments for the City Administrator and the Utility Director also were not yet entered.
Smith said that once the outstanding adjustments are incorporated she will send the revised budgets to board members and convene a follow-up meeting for final approval. No formal vote on the proposed budget was recorded at this meeting.
