City Manager Elizabeth Borstad told the commission the parcel sits at the corner of E. Clinton and Lucas Drive and that the Future Land Use map designates the location as mixed use. She said notice letters were mailed to surrounding property owners within 200 feet and one approval response was received.
During the public hearing, Deborah Deas spoke in support of the zoning change. After the hearing was closed, Member Von Thomas moved to approve the request; Member Jim Kerlin seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
No conditions or specific site plans were included in the minutes; the rezoning allows the owner to pursue office uses consistent with Athens’ mixed‑use guidance and with any required site‑plan review and permitting.
