The Atlantic Beach City Commission voted to approve resolution 26-58 on April 13 authorizing staff to submit a $50,000 T‑Mobile Hometown Grant application to purchase new playground equipment for Beaches Veterans Memorial Park.
City Manager Hogancamp told commissioners the grant, identified by staff and Grant Bridal, would fund playground equipment and noted that, if awarded, the funds would be programmed into next year’s budget. “This particular application will address Beaches Veterans Memorial Park,” Hogancamp said, adding the city will carry the project forward through the parks master-plan and capital-improvement processes.
Commissioners asked about coordination with other park upgrades and how the grant fits into the capital plan. Staff said the city will provide a timeline of planned park improvements and incorporate any grant-funded equipment into the approved capital improvements. The motion to approve was made and seconded, the commission voted and the motion carried.
Next steps: Staff will submit the grant application and, if the city receives the award, will program the $50,000 into the FY2026–27 budget following the usual budget-acceptance process.
