Bruce Andrews proposed showing specimen trees and encouraging residents to sign up for a front‑yard planting program; committee members discussed door hangers targeted to streets with available planting space and a QR-code signup to capture applications. “It would be good to focus on pushing the front yard tree planting,” Bruce said, and several members volunteered to coordinate publicity and door‑hanger content.
The committee also discussed collaborating with GreenScape’s county giveaway (mid‑January) as a possible partner or satellite pick‑up site to avoid ordering separate stock this year. Members noted lead times for tree orders, installation planning and that the primary planting season is February; they agreed outreach will be timed to coincide with centennial events where possible.
Next steps: staff and volunteers will draft a front‑yard sign‑up plan and coordinate with Amanda and GreenScape on logistics and stock. The committee agreed to report progress at its next meeting and to integrate the front‑yard push with Arbor Day outreach.
