Committee to serve as liaisons for recent grant recipients; Atlantic Beach Elementary among awardees

The Arts, Recreation and Culture Committee agreed the committee may take on liaison duties to support accountability for organizations that received recent commission grants.
"You'll contact them, and you're just the liaison between the city and the organization to answer questions, to help them be successful," Chairwoman Lisa Goodrich said, describing liaison responsibilities such as check-ins on timing and budgets and completing a progress-report form for the city portal.
Staff reported the recent awards: Atlantic Beach Elementary was allocated $7,500; Mayport Middle received a combined $7,500 for its programs; and Fletcher Bank was awarded $5,000 contingent on securing a $5,000 match. Staff said Atlantic Beach Elementary should already have been paid and the other schools’ paperwork is under review prior to disbursal.
Committee members discussed whether the committee or the commission should hold primary accountability for reports; staff said progress reports should still be submitted and that schools would present to the commission as required.
Staff will circulate the list of awarded organizations to the committee so members can volunteer or be assigned as liaisons ahead of the next reporting cycle.
