Trustees discussed shifting two early 2006 meeting dates to the fourth Thursday to align with another Jacksonville entity and minimize travel; the board adopted meetings for Feb. 26, May 28, Aug. 13 and Nov. 12 for the police plan and agreed to similar dates for the general plan.
Staff member (S3) briefed trustees on compliance tasks: a statutory amendment requires public assets be invested on a pecuniary basis (sometimes referred to in the meeting as the "anti-ESG" law), and the board's administrator will file the required report and updated investment policy statement with the state by Dec. 15. S3 also reminded trustees about state ethics rules on gifts: items $100 or more should not be accepted and should be returned or donated; gifts between $25 and $100 must be reported by the giver; gifts under $25 need not be reported.
