A committee member moved the recommendation and it was seconded on the floor. After a short technical comment about differentiating live oaks from similar-lookalike species, the chair called the question and the motion passed. "The ayes have it," the chair declared.
Members asked staff to verify species identification and consult a longtime local master arborist if there was any uncertainty. Staff agreed to confirm measurements and species before the matter is included on the commission agenda.
Next steps: the subcommittee will forward its recommendation to the City Commission for final action.
