Norwell trims boardwalk Community Preservation request; amended $1.9 million appropriation approved

On the floor Mr. Glen Fergerson moved to amend the dollar amount from $2,700,000 to $1,900,000. The Moderator called for a vote on the amended motion; the Moderator declared the amendment passed by a majority voice and the amended Article 6 (appropriating $1.9 million) passed by majority voice at roughly 7:48 p.m.
Why it matters: The boardwalk project was among the largest single Community Preservation requests on the warrant. The amendment reduced the town’s immediate CPC appropriation exposure while allowing rehabilitation work to proceed under a smaller appropriation.
Next steps: The Community Preservation Committee and Highway Surveyor will direct the expenditure under the CPC guidance and statutory requirements; project scoping, bidding or contracts will follow as authorized by the CPC and Select Board.
