Attorney: DOJ delays new web‑accessibility effective date by one year; Pangallo hearing likely this summer

During attorney matters at the April 23 meeting, the board’s counsel updated trustees on two legal items.
The attorney said a federal law requiring web content and mobile applications for public funds to be accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act had an effective date that was to occur imminently, but the Department of Justice published an extension that delays implementation until April 24, 2027. Counsel told trustees that staff and vendors have already been instructed to make meeting materials ADA-compliant and that no trustee action was required at this time.
On a separate personnel-related case (referred to as the Pangallo matter), counsel said he had spoken with the advocate, Mr. Darijati, who advised that Ms. Oliver planned one or two additional depositions before the matter is set for hearing. The attorney estimated the hearing could be scheduled in July or August, indicating the case may come before trustees in summer for further action or updates.
