Staff described the call for artists (open to artists within a 100-mile radius or former Sarasota artists with strong ties), said the jury included neighborhood stakeholders and Sarasota Housing Authority leadership, and noted that 73 submissions were received. William Russell, CEO of the Sarasota Housing Authority, and resident representative Natalia Cornelius participated in stakeholder deliberations. The committee discussed ties in the jury rankings and considered local/regional representation in the selection; members agreed the jury process should be respected and approved moving the top-scoring artists forward. Finalist concepts will be shared for public feedback via the Engagement HQ platform and the stakeholder jury will refine concepts with the artists before the committee’s final selection in May.
