City presents first draft of transportation chapter, including population projections to 2055

David Smith, manager of long range planning, briefed the committee on the first draft of the transportation chapter and an accompanying evaluation matrix that documents proposed changes to language, objectives and action strategies.
Smith said staff had prepared population projections out to 2055 and that the draft replaces some level‑of‑service tables with a single table (T‑1) to ensure consistency across the transportation, future land‑use and capital improvements chapters. He described the projection methodology and said the projection is roughly 80,000 residents by 2055; a committee member noted prior projections had under‑estimated growth and questioned the methodology.
Staff asked committee members for feedback; the transportation chapter will be submitted as part of a formal comprehensive‑plan amendment package after internal consistency materials are finalized.
