The board also agreed to change the timeline for hearing appeals from "as soon as possible, but in no event more than 30 days" to a 60-day standard and will consult the city attorney on the language.
Board member raised questions about whether the current draft reflected earlier edits made by staff and a person named Joe; the Chair confirmed the document largely mirrored those edits with a few amendments incorporated to assist staff. The board discussed a wording change in section 9(d) that replaces the phrase "director of building and zoning" with "building official." The Chair said he would distribute an updated copy showing strikeouts and tracked changes.
The Clerk moved to approve the Oct. 15 minutes; the board approved them unanimously. The Chair and members emphasized that procedural changes may be modified in the future by a majority vote if required to ensure due process. The Chair said the board would circulate the finalized document to members for their records.
The board did not take further formal action on other procedural items at the meeting; any legal or timing questions about appeals will be resolved after the Chair confers with the city attorney.
