Carlinville awards contracts for storm-sewer and water-system repairs

The Carlinville City Council on Sept. 15 accepted multiple bids to address stormwater and water-system needs and approved an emergency pump replacement.
Alderman Link moved to accept JP Burns Excavating Inc.'s $12,600.00 bid to repair the storm sewer at 525 South Broad Street; Alderman Brockmeier seconded and the motion passed unanimously, 7-0.
The council also approved Vandevanter Engineering's proposal for the Schien Ground Storage Tank booster pump and motor replacement for $37,955.00 plus an adder option of $16,285.00. Alderman Ober moved the contract award; Alderman Reichmann seconded and the measure passed 7-0.
Alderman Wagstaff moved to accept Vandevanter Engineering's $17,815.00 pump replacement for the Ravine Lift as an emergency repair; Alderman Ober seconded and the council approved it unanimously, 7-0.
Councilors tabled consideration of purchasing a new lake truck until the next meeting after a motion by Alderman Link and second by Alderman Ober passed unanimously to defer the issue.
The awards fund targeted repairs to stormwater and potable-water infrastructure; the contracts and emergency repair are scheduled to move to implementation under the city's public works and water departments.
