Denton board approves up-to-$14.68 million BuyBoard contract with Rush Truck Centers for fleet services

On June 8 the Denton Public Utilities Board unanimously recommended an ordinance authorizing a BuyBoard cooperative purchase agreement with Rush Truck Centers of Texas for as-needed fleet services and equipment acquisitions over a potential five‑year term, not to exceed $14,679,000.
Nicole Rascher, Administration Manager for Fleet and Facilities, said the contract ensures the city can procure and maintain heavy-duty equipment used by departments including solid waste, streets and wastewater, and provides access to specialized diagnostics and technical expertise for branded equipment. "The city will only pay for services rendered and is not obligated to pay the full contract amount unless needed," Rascher said.
A board member asked about the city's existing Peterbilt vehicles; Rascher said the fleet includes roughly 115 Peterbilt trucks and that Rush is one of several vendors the city may use for specialized bodies or diagnostic services. She confirmed the city has used similar contracts with the vendor in the past.
After discussion the board moved and unanimously approved the contract recommendation. Rascher said all vehicle additions and expenditures will continue to be processed through the city's annual budget process.
