Lions Club requests temporary market spot; commissioners ask for insurance proof

Representatives of the Lions Club told the DeKalb County Commissioners on June 8 they want to sell oranges the first two weekends in December and asked whether the county could permit them to use the farmers‑market site.
Freda Donnelly, who identified herself for the record and provided an Auburn address, said the group usually sells oranges and needs a fallback weekend if stock remains. Commissioners and staff discussed insurance requirements: the county’s draft lease typically names the county as additional insured, and staff said a $500,000 liability limit could be acceptable for the short event if the Lions’ insurer adds DeKalb County as an additional insured for the weekend. The county asked the Lions to supply a copy of the policy and rider so staff can draft a contract for the requested dates (Dec. 5–6 and Dec. 12–13).
Staff said they would draft a rental/lease agreement that reflects the insurance limit discussed and return the contract for commissioner approval once the certificate and rider are on file.
