Two city commissions gave brief annual reports.
Dana Thompson, chair of the Commission on Aging, described a '2.0' update to the commission’s senior resource guides (healthcare and nonmedical resources), a recurring 'Senior Living 101' seminar, and dementia‑friendly Bloomington training. Thompson said the dementia training lasts about an hour to an hour‑and‑a‑half, that the county has roughly 40 trained local trainers and that the commission aims to increase engagement with city offices and community partners.
Cece Swalling and city liaison Marissa Parcott presented the Commission on the Status of Women’s highlights: the 2025 Women’s History Month luncheon (with an award keynote), a Women’s Market that hosted roughly 30 vendors, and an expanded Young Women’s Leadership Summit. The commission plans to pursue grants to offset event costs, expand outreach, and continue legislative monitoring to support Bloomington women in coordination with state efforts.
Both commissions solicited council support for partnerships and wider public participation in upcoming events and training.
