Williston commission accepts official primary canvass; continues $4/month mosquito control charge

The Williston Board of City Commissioners on June 25 accepted the official canvass of the June 11, 2024 primary election and recorded local tallies for city commissioner and park board races.
Hercules Cummings, the city's finance director, told the commission the Williams County Canvassing Board met June 24 and sent the official results for the City's files. The reported vote for the four‑year City Commissioner seat was Brad Bekkedahl 1,467; Victoria Siemieniewski 867; Alex Johnson 733; Mason White 650; others 20. For two Park Board seats, Shawn Roness led with 1,499 votes and John Liffrig had 1,460; others totaled 243.
Cummings also reported returns on two local ballot questions. A proposal to continue the City of Williston mosquito control charge of $4.00 per month per occupied unit received 1,999 yes votes and 291 no votes. Commissioners accepted the canvass and the reported local question totals by motion.
The motion to accept the canvass and the local tallies was made by Commissioner Tate Cymbaluk and seconded by Commissioner James Bervig; the board approved the motion by unanimous vote.
The commission recorded the canvass and continued the mosquito control charge based on the official totals. No further action on contest certificates or post‑canvass challenges was reported during the meeting.
