During its June 8 meeting, the Lewiston City Council approved several advisory‑board and commission appointments.
Mayor Johnson moved to appoint Matt Ruth to a three‑year term on the Disability Advisory Commission; the motion was seconded and carried by voice vote. The mayor then moved to appoint Laura Gifford to a four‑year term on the Emergency Medical Services Advisory Board; that motion was also seconded and approved.
Council also considered appointing Douglas (Doug) Welch to a three‑year term on the Lewiston/Nez Perce County Airport Authority Board of Commissioners, effective June 11, 2026. Welch had introduced himself earlier during citizen comments, describing his military background and local veterans’ work. Mayor Johnson said he was impressed with Welch’s experience and interest in serving the region; the motion was seconded and passed by council voice vote.
Each appointment carried during roll call or voice vote with no recorded opposition. Mayor Johnson encouraged new appointees to coordinate with the city clerk for onboarding and next steps.
