Williston approves U.S. Air Force Reserve mosquito spraying in congested areas

The Williston City Commission on April 14 approved a request to allow the U.S. Air Force Reserve to conduct congested‑area aerial mosquito spraying in support of the Williams County Vector Control program.
Airport Director Ryan O’Rear said spraying is tentatively scheduled for July 13–17 and Aug. 10–14, 2026, but the dates may be adjusted depending on determinations by the local Vector Control Board. O’Rear said any spraying activity will be advertised in newspaper, TV and radio as required.
Commissioner Bekkedahl moved to approve the congested area operation; Commissioner Gjovig seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The city will coordinate required public notices and any further approvals with the Vector Control Board.
