The Preston Board of Selectmen voted unanimously on March 11 to refer a zoning and blight violation at 253 Route 2A to the Town Attorney after reviewing the Zoning Enforcement Officer’s reports and correspondence.
Board members said the property’s tenant appears to be keeping a menagerie of animals that exceed the parcel’s capacity and create unsafe and unhealthy conditions. The minutes state that the board determined ZEO Ms. Lindo had exhausted administrative remedies and that legal action was the next step for 253 Route 2A; for 32 Drawbridge Road the board directed the ZEO to continue enforcement efforts.
The motion to refer 253 Route 2A to the Town Attorney was moved by Selectman Ken Zachem, seconded by Selectman Jerry Grabarek, and carried unanimously. The referral gives the town attorney authority to pursue legal remedies available under local zoning and blight enforcement procedures.
