Raymore council signs off on Kurzweil Road reconstruction and multiple maintenance contracts

The Raymore City Council approved a series of procurement and infrastructure items on June 8, including a major road reconstruction contract, streetlight maintenance and easement corrections.

Kurzweil Road: Trent Salisbury presented the staff recommendation to award the Kurzweil Road reconstruction contract (project 26‑451‑201) to VF Anderson, the lowest responsive bidder, for $4,836,185. "Tonight before you is the award of contract for the Kurzweil Road construction. This is the last project of the 2020 geobond issue," Salisbury told the council. The work will reconstruct asphalt, replace stormwater crossings and improve roadside ditches from 155th Street to 58 Highway. Council approved the first reading unanimously (8‑0).

Streetlights: Staff recommended awarding a streetlight maintenance contract to Custom Lighting Services, LLC (DBA Black & McDonald) with an annual cost of $88,200; staff said contractors aim to respond to requests within 48 hours and typically repair within seven days. Council approved the first reading unanimously (8‑0).

Easement correction: The council approved an ordinance to vacate and re‑dedicate corrected waterline easements for The Lofts at Fox Ridge after staff identified as‑built discrepancies during surveying. The action ensures the city's water infrastructure lies within recorded easements.

Other actions: The council also completed second‑reading approvals earlier in the meeting for a Servpro priority services agreement for emergency/disaster response and a Heartland Sign & Lighting contract for two outdoor video display signs.

Most procurement items passed on unanimous first or second readings; staff said they will return ordinances for required second readings where necessary before contracts are executed.
