The Williston Board of City Commissioners on Jan. 13 approved a $23,558 change order for the East Airport Ditch project to address additional asphalt removal and unanticipated earthwork haul-off.
City Engineer David Juma said asphalt removal was necessary to bring east airport ditch backslopes to plan after encountering encroachment on city-owned property; a larger-than-anticipated volume of excavated material proved non-suitable and was hauled off, prompting the contractor’s change order request. The increase includes $3,650 for asphalt removal and $19,908 for earthwork haul-off.
Approving the change order revised the contract price to $1,023,738.82. Juma noted the 2025 budget included $2,556,000 for the project. Commissioners voted 5–0 to approve the change order and directed the City Engineer to execute required documents.
