Williston approves $178,000 engineering task order for landfill gas remediation work

Commissioners voted 5–0 to authorize Burns & McDonnell to provide 2026 engineering services related to NDDEQ reporting, groundwater monitoring and a landfill-gas remediation plan, not to exceed $178,000.
The Board approved Task Order Authorization #23 on Jan. 13 with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company for 2026 engineering services related to landfill operations.
Public Works Director Kenny Bergstrom said the task order covers required North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality (NDDEQ) reporting, groundwater and air-emissions monitoring, preparation of an NDDEQ remediation plan for observed landfill gas migration issues, plans and specifications for corrective actions, and on-call engineering services related to landfill operations and monitoring. The fee for the task order was presented as not to exceed $178,000.
Commissioners voted 5–0 to approve the task order. Bergstrom said the task will include preparation of the remediation plan and assistance with NDDEQ communications as needed.
