Ammon council reviews local planning, parking and scheduling issues

Councilmember Jeff Fullmer said staff had met that day with Curlew Bend developers; Mayor Brian Powell said the developers’ agreement will return to council next week.
City Attorney Scott Hall raised that a church proposed for the parcel at the John Adams roundabout would be nontaxable and said the location is “financially in the wrong spot” for commercial tax revenue. Councilmember Oswald asked if the city could act; City Administrator Micah Austin said the city could not change the current project but suggested the city could alter language going forward to limit similar future uses.
Councilmember Nolan Wheeler said he has been unable to attend Fire District meetings since the meetings moved to the second Thursday of each month at 6 p.m.; Mayor Powell encouraged members to attend at least every other month. City Administrator Micah Austin closed with a community note that Hillcrest is staging As You Like It, with Friday as the last showing. The council adjourned at 7:08 p.m.
