Residents say parked cars and narrow streets impede buses, garbage and emergency vehicles

Several residents used the public‑comment portion of the meeting to describe recurring safety and access issues on neighborhood streets.

Speakers reported that parking on narrow stretches of Highland Avenue and Ellerslie Avenue creates sight‑line problems and can prevent garbage trucks and emergency vehicles from passing. One resident described a section of Highland Avenue where many transient vehicles travel at high speed and said the configuration makes it difficult for large service vehicles to navigate. Another resident at Ellerslie Avenue said "the street is not a wide street" and asked the township to consider targeted remedies that preserve homeowner access while addressing safety.

Township officials urged residents to file a formal traffic concern through the police department web portal so the traffic division and the township’s traffic engineer can place the locations on the committee’s agenda, perform sight‑line and turning‑radius reviews, and pursue public outreach. Officials warned that some remedies — for example, differential weekday parking regulations — can be hard to enforce and that certain measures (such as speed humps) are typically used only in lower‑speed borough streets due to liability and emergency‑vehicle access considerations.

The board said it would schedule site visits with the traffic engineer and involve residents in those reviews before any advertising and public‑hearing steps required for changes to parking regulations.
