"With this expansion, we will be able to have those storm events take place, and we will be able to sleep at night knowing that we are keeping everything within the pipe and everything getting treated so that our waterways stay clean and clear as they should," Arthur said. He listed project elements as two clarifiers, two sludge-holding tanks, a plant drain pump station and a new UV treatment unit and said the construction schedule targets substantial completion in April 2028.
Council members moved and seconded the resolution after Arthur's presentation. The roll-call-style voice vote recorded affirmative responses from the councilmembers present and the resolution was approved. The resolution text read at the meeting identifies the loan amount, the borrower (the city of Shepherdsville) and project number A24-021S and authorizes the mayor and city clerk to execute documents necessary to effect the financing.
City officials said the expansion is primarily intended to manage stormwater flows that now overwhelm the plant during heavy rains, allow routine clarifier maintenance without endangering compliance, and reduce the city's long-term maintenance costs. The council thanked staff for the presentation and moved to next agenda items.
