Mobbs Committee schedules Ridge Trail bridge repairs, notes volunteer work and new switchback trail

At its June 1 meeting the Mobbs Committee reviewed recent volunteer work, equipment storage plans, and several trail repair and construction items.
Pete Davis and Jessica Dion reported that ten MMU students and an MMU teacher helped trim white pine branches at Browns Trace Access and the sledding hill, planted blueberry bushes in the orchard, and removed dense invasive honeysuckle. Committee members expressed appreciation for the students and faculty who participated.
On equipment logistics, Megan Davis provided Chris Smith a key to the old Town Garage and showed available space for off‑season Snowdog storage. Chris Smith and Dan moved the Snowdog from Pete Davis's property to the Town Garage; Chris will later move the grooming attachment and toolbox from the Dawg Haus to the new location. The committee discussed relocating all Mobbs Committee equipment to the Town Garage and agreed to revisit that idea at a future meeting after Chris inspects current Dawg Haus allocation and use.
Pete Davis reported a blowdown that smashed the rails on the Ridge Trail bridge and loosened the first tread. He cleared the debris and said three 14'x4'x1' beveled planks will be needed to replace the damaged rails; Riley Glanz volunteered to procure materials and make the repairs.
Under fiscal‑year projects, the committee noted that Fellowship of the Wheel (FOTW) will finish construction of a switchback trail to bypass an eroded section of the Americana trail; the new bypass crosses private land and was initiated with the landowner's permission. Riley Glanz also volunteered to contact Greg Fatigate of Rabbit Tracks Trail Works about possible drainage engineering for the Out & Back Trail or Browns Trace Access, taking advantage of Greg's current proximity at a nearby Mills Riverside Park worksite.
The committee did not take any formal votes on the repairs or the switchback during the meeting. Members set follow‑ups: Chris Smith will review Dawg Haus space allocation when she collects the Snowdog accessories, and Riley Glanz will obtain materials for the bridge repairs and follow up with Greg Fatigate on drainage engineering.
