Police Chief David Pernice told the council that the department has arranged for increased coverage at the upcoming French Creek Festival and that Erie County detectives will fund overtime and supply 2–3 officers from the Erie County courthouse to assist.
Pernice said he has been in contact with nearby agencies about recent charity golf scrambles; Corry reported about $16,000 raised, and Warren reported roughly $18,000–$20,000. He said he had asked Corry PSP for additional coverage but had not yet received a response.
Chief Pernice also reported he is completing a background check required by Civil Service Rules and expects it to be finished by July 5, 2024. He said he has been working with Lexipol to update department policies, removing policies that are no longer needed; changes are pending review by the Solicitor before formal adoption.
The chief asked Streets Supervisor Bob Phillips to review the Municipal Lot #2 angled parking layout after noting that License Plate Reader capabilities could assist investigations. No formal policy changes or ordinance amendments were adopted at the meeting.
