Sac County supervisors approve telecom lease, $25,000 ARPA request and $10,000 hazard mitigation match

The Sac County Board of Supervisors approved several administrative and funding items at its Aug. 6 meeting in votes that were recorded as unanimous.
The board approved a lease agreement with Sac County Mutual Telephone for antenna space on the company’s tower near Odebolt. The lease is for $1,500 per month and is retroactive to March 2024. The motion to approve and sign the lease was moved by Supervisor Drake and seconded by Supervisor Wisster; the minutes record the motion carried with all ayes.
The board also approved an application for $25,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds submitted by the Sac County Sheriff to purchase digital intelligence equipment intended to extract cell phone data involved in criminal investigations. Supervisor Wisster moved the ARPA request, Supervisor Drake seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
In routine business the board approved claims as listed in the Auditor’s claims register following a motion by Supervisor Drake and a second from Supervisor Wisster.
Finally, the board adopted Resolution 24-0806A, moved by Supervisor Wisster and seconded by Supervisor Drake, authorizing a local match of up to $10,000 to secure a Hazard Mitigation Assistance grant through Region XII Council of Governments. The motion carried with Ayes — Drake, Wisster, Fischer; Nays — none.
