Nemaha County on May 20 signed the SE Nebraska Adult Drug Court Interlocal Agreement for FY 2026-2027 and approved the county’s budget request of $9,153.85 to support the regional problem-solving court.
The agreement covers member counties Otoe, Richardson, Nemaha, Johnson and Pawnee, according to the minutes. The action followed a presentation at 9:00 a.m. by Melanie Stormer, Chief Probation Officer, with problem-solving court coordination from Chris Reece. Michael Weiss moved and Bryan Mellage seconded the motion to sign the interlocal agreement and approve Nemaha County’s FY 2026-2027 request for $9,153.85; roll-call votes recorded Mellage and Weiss as "aye," and the motion passed.
Why it matters: interlocal agreements pool administrative and program costs among counties to maintain regional adult drug court services. The approved contribution represents Nemaha County’s portion of the shared operating cost recorded in the minutes.
The minutes do not record any dissent or amendment to the agreement. The board will revisit budget and contract questions as needed at subsequent meetings.
