McCandless council meeting notes: EMS award, retirements and committee appointments

At its meeting, the Town of McCandless council recognized local public-safety and civic contributions, accepted one resignation and approved an appointment to an advisory committee.
Council noted that the town’s ambulance/EMS provider received a statewide EMS award for patient-care standards, safety and training. Council members and residents praised the EMS team and credited municipal and legislative grant support for equipment and new ambulances.
The council presented a testimonial resolution honoring Sergeant Christian Guzzo on his retirement after nearly 28 years; Guzzo spoke briefly and thanked the council. The council moved and approved the testimonial resolution by voice vote.
The meeting also introduced the town’s LGA intern, Caroline Bridge, who said she will work on historical-records preservation and other municipal projects this summer. In new business the council accepted the resignation of a planning commission member (name in transcript varies) and appointed Carmen Ruby to the environmental advisory committee for a term running to Dec. 31, 2026; both motions passed by voice vote.
Several routine reports were delivered (police, fire marshal, building permits, public works) including a fire-marshal update that more than 380 hydrants (about 65% of public hydrants) now have Storz adapters.
