"My concerns remain that this is only a priority for this ownership for the 3 days before the licensing is up," staff said, listing widespread trash, parking issues and deferred repairs observed during recent inspections.
Council members debated enforcement options, tenant impacts and timelines. Staff estimated Sunnyside had roughly 14 occupied lots and noted some improvements were made in the days before the meeting but remained insufficient for a full renewal. Council members emphasized the need to avoid sudden displacement of tenants and asked for tenant notifications and periodic follow‑up inspections if an extension were granted.
On motions, the council approved licenses for Amberley, Lennox MHP and Long Creek, then approved a 60‑day extension for Sunnyside rather than an outright denial. The council also directed staff to develop a relocation‑assistance plan 'at this point' to prepare for possible displacement if Sunnyside fails to meet required standards. Staff said they will meet with Sunnyside owners immediately and send notice to tenants explaining the process and expectations.
Council indicated it would revisit Sunnyside’s status at the end of the extension and could move to deny the license if required work and consistent owner engagement have not occurred.
