Stacie Sevigny told the Grafton City Council on April 14 that the Walsh County Childcare Center has been operating since Feb. 19, most interior work is complete and remaining exterior work will finish as weather permits. She said the provider is licensed for 65 children, currently staffs 17 people and has enrolled 48 children. Sevigny said ownership of the building will transfer to Red River CHDO later this year and that an open house and ribbon-cutting is set for April 30 from 3:30–5:00 p.m.
Walsh County Commissioner Amy Suda attended the meeting to discuss the current county jail project and Election Day materials. Suda encouraged residents to visit Walshcountyvote.com to review information about the jail project and urged constituents to listen to all sides before voting on May 13. She said her appearance was intended to bridge relations between Walsh County and the City of Grafton, stressing that the small region is “stronger when we work together.”
