Grafton hires Bolton & Menk for master plan, approves builders for Spark Housing homes

The Grafton City Council on July 14 approved contracts to move forward on a city master plan and the Spark Housing construction projects.
Administrator Nick Ziegelmann told the council that interviews were conducted with top firms and the Economic Development Committee recommended Bolton & Menk to complete the Master Plan at a cost of $99,909. The city has approximately $75,000 reserved in the Planning and Zoning Fund, with the remainder to be paid from Sales Tax Funds. The council approved the contract on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Ziegelmann also reported requests for proposals for the Spark Housing Projects (two single-family homes and one twin home). The Economic Development Committee recommended Presteng Construction for the two single-family homes and MAK Construction for the twin home, contingent on approval of state funding. The council approved those contractor recommendations unanimously.
Council members also noted a Storefront Improvement grant was approved for Lucious Boutique as an FYI item.
Because the Spark Housing contractor approvals were made contingent on state funding, further action will depend on grant or state program approvals. City staff will proceed with contract documentation for the master plan and notify the council if state funding conditions change.
