Finance committee hears July 14 joint meeting invite and key fall dates for special town meeting

The Dennis Finance Committee was notified that it is invited to a joint end-of-year meeting with the Select Board on July 14, where requested inter-fund transfers and any reserve fund transfers for year-end will be presented for approval.
Jim Plath, the Select Board liaison to the finance committee, told members that the special town meeting is scheduled for Oct. 6 and that the Select Board is expected to sign the warrant on Sept. 8. Plath cautioned that committee recommendations need to be completed before September to appear on the printed warrant and suggested members plan meetings in August to prepare.
Committee members asked about petition article deadlines; Plath said the deadline was not yet known and offered to share the town calendar. A staff member agreed to distribute the calendar. Committee member Cheryl McMahon also requested a contact-email update and read an alternate address for committee communications.
The committee did not take formal votes on budget transfers at this meeting; it recessed after administrative matters and adjourned by unanimous voice vote.
