Chief LJ Fazaro and police representatives reviewed plans that include a float event on July 18 (rain date July 19, 1–4 p.m.), the Tarzan Brown race on Nov. 7 (kids run 9:30 a.m.; five‑mile at 10 a.m.), and the lighted boat parade on Nov. 28 (6–7:30 p.m.). Town staff said last year’s events strained water‑safety enforcement and that organizers must provide civilian volunteers or contracted security to augment regular staffing. The harbor master will mark channels with buoys for the float event and the town expects lifeguards and safety boats to be on scene.
The authority voted to carry the motion; members stressed they would continue to coordinate with the Chamber to confirm staffing and enforcement details ahead of each event.
