The Goffstown Select Board on June 8 authorized town department heads to finalize a temporary parking plan with Goffstown Junior Baseball to handle overflow for the District 1 Little League Championship in July.
Vanessa Hayes, speaking for Goffstown Junior Baseball, told the board the primary gravel lot under the power lines "holds about 90 spots allegedly on a good day," and that additional, short-term parking will be needed for several busy days starting July 17. Hayes said the group would limit parking to a grassy area across the rail-trail fence near a physical-therapy building, stake off entrances, and keep cars away from the crosswalk.
Town staff said police and public-works chiefs had reviewed the plan. "Chief Sereno is okay with this," Hayes said during the presentation. The board moved to "authorize department heads to assist GJB with the implementation of the parking plan as presented," a motion the board approved by voice vote.
The authorization directs town staff to complete the final safety and traffic details, including signage and a detour/entry plan for the limited days the tournament will use the site. The board did not set a fee or permanent change to parking rules; staff said more details will be handled administratively.
The authorization covers the specific event dates and is temporary; the board asked staff to ensure safety measures and minimal impact to adjacent properties before implementing the plan.
