Charlotte — At its Jan. 12 meeting the Charlotte City Council approved a set of administrative and legislative actions including a budget amendment, adoption of the International Fire Code 2021 edition and several routine consent items.
By roll-call vote the council approved Resolution 2026-02 to amend operating and capital budget appropriations for FY 2025–26. City Manager Hillard said such amendments occur periodically to account for department-requested projects outside the original budget; the city’s overall operating context was described as an $18 million budget.
Council also completed a second reading and approved Ordinance 2025-09 to adopt the International Fire Code (IFC 2021 edition). The motion to adopt the ordinance was made by Councilmember Chin and supported by Councilmember Scott; the vote was recorded 7–0.
On the consent agenda the council approved claims and expenditures totaling $575,987.09, approved the appointment of Alicia Smith as city clerk, adopted guidelines for poverty exemptions for 2026, updated authorized grant signatories via Resolution 2026-01, and approved a change to the Parks Advisory Board mayoral appointment (replacing Mayor Fullerton with Councilmember Brummette). The consent motion carried 7–0.
Other routine actions recorded in the minutes included approval of several prior meeting minutes and the formal adjournment at 8:32 p.m.
