Commission approves 404-acre farmland easement for the Haught property

Allison, representing the Farmland Protection Board, asked for final commission approval to close an easement on the Robert and Judith Haught property: 404 acres in Augusta with two preserved home sites. Allison said the funding for the easement comes from county and the West Virginia Agricultural Land Protection Authority.
"It's 404 acres, in Augusta off Edgar Deloy Road... once we close this one, we'll be at 7,790 acres protected in the county," Allison said. Commissioners moved and approved the closing by voice vote.
Why it matters: The county’s farmland preservation program continues to add protected acreage, maintaining rural character and limiting development on enrolled parcels.
