Public Safety staff presented a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with OTHS district 203 for the School Resource Officer (SRO) program and suggested a three‑year term to fix pricing tied to the union contract. The committee was told the district's contribution remains $10,000 per year for the SRO and that the secondary employment rate for officers at events would change from $50 to $60 per hour.
"Since we know what the FOP union contract is we just asked them if they would be willing to enter into a three‑year agreement uh for the SRO," the chief said. Staff characterized the change as an administrative update to set multi‑year pricing and to reflect a new secondary employment rate for events paid directly to officers.
The resolution passed by roll call and will go to the full council for final authorization.
Next step: the resolution will be placed on the full council agenda; staff said the district had been asked about a three‑year term and that the $10,000 annual contribution remains unchanged.
