The chief said the city has typically deployed temporary no‑parking signage during large events and consulted with neighbors; the permanent restriction would still allow parking on the north side of the street. "We're just proposing to prohibit parking on the south side, which is next to the houses, and it would still allow people to park on one side of the road instead of both sides of the road for those events," the chief said.
Council members asked for confirmation that the north side would remain available and that the change mirrors prior temporary practices; staff confirmed both points. The committee approved the code amendment by roll call and will forward it to the next full council meeting for final action.
