Mukilteo’s City Council authorized the mayor to sign a consultant agreement with Ogden Murphy Wallace for city legal services, following a city-conducted RFP process, the council decided June 1.
Director Niehaus told council the city issued an RFP because the legal services contract had been amended for many years and the city had not run a competitive solicitation since about 2002. Staff solicited responses and received proposals from three firms that actively pursued municipal services; after weighted scoring by staff, Ogden Murphy Wallace emerged as the unanimous top recommendation.
Councilmembers praised the process and noted the importance of evaluating options. Councilmember Duran acknowledged other firms’ strength but said he was confident staying with Ogden Murphy Wallace given past experience. Council President Moon and others thanked staff for the work.
Councilmember Duran moved and Councilmember Vago seconded a motion authorizing the mayor to sign an agreement with Ogden Murphy Wallace; the motion passed on the record. The meeting audio did not include a roll‑call with individual named tallies in the transcript excerpt.
