Superintendent Michael Wegher used the May 6 Committee of the Whole meeting to preview facilities work at Taylor High School and to promote community events. He told the board that redesign options for Taylor High School, including plans that address the pool, will be presented at a June 3 meeting.
Board members emphasized protecting student resources during renovation and encouraged attendance at the district's annual senior parade at Heritage Park. To allow board members to attend the parade, the board voted unanimously to move the May 20 meeting start time from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The change was proposed by Stephanie Shufeldt and seconded by Justin Mordarski.
During the general public comment period, speakers raised concerns about emergency card language and confusion over opt-out/photo-release forms, thanked staff for progress on Taylor High School projects, suggested pursuing grants for athletic facilities and a swim co-op, and asked whether polling questions from a prior survey could be made public. The board reiterated that renovation plans are not intended to remove student resources and encouraged community attendance at the parade.
