Logan County Fiscal Court approves routine financial actions, tables ambulance contract discussion

At its June 9 meeting in Russellville, the Logan County Fiscal Court approved routine fiscal-business items, authorized several budget and cash transfers and voted to table a high-profile decision on ambulance services while the bidding committee and the budget committee continue review.
The court moved to accept amendments and approve the May 26 regular and June special-call minutes, then approved the bills the board had before it. The treasurer presented the monthly financial statement; several account balances read aloud in the transcript are garbled and should be confirmed from the written report.
The court approved budget transfers totaling $41,314.62 and approved several cash transfers, including a $50,000 transfer and a retroactive $85,000 transfer from the occupational net profits tax fund to the jail fund (the latter requested to be retroactive to May 26, 2026).
Sheriff Stratton asked for permission to purchase equipment to outfit a 2023 Dodge Charger Pursuit. The court approved the purchase from EMCO for $18,538.68 after brief discussion about vendor proximity and installation options.
The court also authorized a one-time purchase of eight radio-frequency channels to expand emergency communications capacity across three sites at a total listed bid of $10,144.
On a separate major item, the ambulance-services committee reported it continues to dissect multiple bids received on June 2 and recommended additional time to reconcile service levels and fiscal impacts. Court members expressed support for adding a third ambulance in principle but were divided on how to fund recurring operating costs. The court voted to table final action on the ambulance contract and asked the committee to meet with the budget committee and return a recommendation at the next meeting.
Other actions included approval of a routine public official bond for the county treasurer (Amanda Stratton) for fiscal year 2026–27 and several motions to surplus or transfer department inventory items (file folder dated 06/09/2026 contains full lists).
