Council appoints Aaron Brown to fill vacant seat after interviews

The Woodland City Council appointed Aaron Brown to fill council position No. 6 after interviewing four applicants and recessing to an executive session. The vote followed a motion by Council Member Houston and a second from Council Member Michaelelsson; the council recorded affirmative roll-call votes and Brown took the oath of office that night.

Brown, who said he has lived in Woodland for six years and has been active with Downtown Woodland Revitalization, told council he wanted to serve as a liaison between residents and city government and to support downtown revitalization and park safety. "I'm very interested in helping the community of Woodland," Brown said in his two-minute opening remarks.

Council members thanked all applicants and encouraged them to reapply for future vacancies; the mayor noted another seat will open later and the city will reopen applications. The appointment followed a brief executive session to evaluate candidates' qualifications under the statutory authority cited at the meeting.
