Fox River Grove trustees approve social-worker pact, Fox Fest stage and consent items

Fox River Grove’s Village Board on March 5 approved a package of routine and operational items, including joining McHenry County’s Police Social Worker Program, contracting a stage vendor for Fox Fest and adopting a special-use ordinance for an adult day care at 906 Route 22.
Chief Waitrovich told trustees the county social-worker program has been "extremely useful in providing valuable resources in cases which involve homelessness, addiction, abuse and psychological issues." He said social workers are available 24/7 for emergencies and that most police departments in McHenry County participate in the program. Trustee Steve Knar moved to approve the intergovernmental agreement; Trustee Melissa Schladt seconded and trustees voted unanimously to adopt it.
Trustees also approved a Fox Fest stage setup agreement with Advantage AVL after Trustee Jennifer Curtiss noted the company provided services for the village’s 100-year celebration and was recommended by performing bands. The motion to contract Advantage AVL passed by unanimous roll call vote.
Earlier in the meeting the board approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Feb. 20 meeting, accounts payable, the January 2024 treasurer’s report and Ordinance 2024-03, a special-use permit for an adult day care at 906 Route 22. Trustee Devin Hester moved to approve the consent agenda; Trustee Jennifer Curtiss seconded and the motion passed on a unanimous roll call vote.
Administrator Soderholm updated the board on demolition preparations for properties on Block B, saying 13 contractors attended the required pre-bid walkthrough and that bids will be opened March 12, 2024. Bidders were asked to price two options: filling in basements or leaving basements in place and fencing them off. Soderholm said the structure at 303 Opatrny is slated for demolition and backfill.
Trustee Melissa Schladt said the Parks Commission has postponed the next Parks Fundraiser until 2025 because of Fox Fest and announced a Parks Clean-Up Day scheduled for April 27, 2024. Trustee Kirsten Wall raised questions about code violations at 1001 Route 22; Assistant Administrator Bechler said the owner had been ticketed and staff had discussed appropriate uses for the property.
The board adjourned at 6:44 p.m. without scheduling additional votes; the Block B demolition bid opening remains the next procedural step.
